Niel McLean recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours list

At CAS Conference 2024 we took the opportunity to congratulate Niel McLean in person on his well-deserved recognition in the King’s Birthday Honours list this year.

Niel has been awarded an OBE for his involvement in education, not least developing the first National Curriculum and qualifications for IT and Computing in the early 1990s.

Since then he has continued to make meaningful contributions to education through his work with BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, NCCE, the Learning Foundation and the Digital Poverty Alliance. Having led BCS’s work to secure investment in CPD for teachers through NCCE and develop certification for teachers, Niel leads BCS’s strategy for the computing curriculum in his role as Head of Education.

You can read more about Niel and why he so richly deserves this recognition on the BCS website below.
