We were delighted to host a collaborative workshop as part of the Scratch conference on 25th July.

As one of the six Scratch Ecosystem Leaders across the globe, we had great fun collaborating with Scratch enthusiasts from around the world as together we created animations and games on the theme of renewable energy solutions.

The enthusiasm and collaboration on display throughout the session was inspiring and expertly supported by the incredible network of facilitators.

A huge thank you to Sarah Zaman for delivering the session and Niel Rickus, Fiona Baxter, Jo Hodge, Donna Rawling, Mohamed Reda Oubakalla, Ben Davies, Isabella Lieghio, Nyree Scott and James Henderson for supporting attendees to develop some great results in such a short time!

The Scratch Conference, and the collaborative workshop in particular, was a great opportunity to get together and share some hands-on experience of Scratch with peers. But don’t just take our word for it, here's what some of our facilitators had to say about their experience of the session:

"Having done a few online Scratch conferences now, the chance to be part of the CAS - Barefoot one the second day (and work with likeminded others) enabled me to not only share my knowledge, but also continue to learn, which is what it is all about. There are some great Scratchers out there!".
 - Nyree Scott

"It was great to work with educators from around the world and have some time to make Scratch projects. The theme of renewable energy gave a focus for our work, which can now be transferred to activities in the classroom".
 - Neil Rickus

"It was a fantastic opportunity to network with fellow teachers around the world to find out how they are using Scratch in their own settings. Thanks for organising such a unique, collaborative coding experience!"
 - Jo Hodge

"The collaboration of people from around the world exploring and problem solving in Scratch was truly what community is all about"
 - Donna Rawling

You can see the projects that were developed during the session in our Scratch Studio here: https://scratch.mit.edu/studios/35423765. Why not take a look, play the games and remix them to your heart’s content. We would love to see what you produce, so please do share back into the Studio.

And watch this space in the autumn term for a new teaching resource based on the projects created at the Scratch Conference.
