Leading primary computing: reflections from the subject leader community
Our latest resource has brought together members of the CAS community to provide support for primary computing leads to develop the subject in their school.
Leading primary computing: reflections from the subject leader community complements the NCCE Computing Quality Framework and has been developed in conjunction with primary teachers and computing education experts. Detailed guidance is outlined from existing computing subject leads, with comprehensive case studies from active practitioners, which reflect the realities of the classroom and some of the challenges faced by primary teachers - particularly non-specialists as they continue to develop their subject and pedagogical knowledge.
The toolkit contains guidance and case studies for nine focus areas:
- Computing subject leadership
- Curriculum
- Assessment
- Leading and developing staff
- Resourcing
- Enrichment
- Family and community engagement
- Diversity and inclusion
- Online safety
Links to resources recommended by CAS community members are included throughout, which enable teachers to easily find out further information and identify their next steps.
