Mission Beamish
Local Community
Face to Face
You will select from a series of "missions" aimed at developing your iPad skills in KS1 & KS2. Every mission seeks to unleash your creativity and provide you with inspirational ideas for activities you can run with your own class.
What will we be doing?
- Meeting at the museum entrance before taking the bus into town.
- Attend a mission briefing to sharpen your iPad skills
- You will then select one of the missions, form your mission team and head out into the museum.
- After lunch you will work with your team to put together your mission report to showcase your efforts to the rest of the teams.
- The day will end with a chance to share your efforts and to gain inspiration from each other
Example missions include
- Use “five-shot” storytelling to create a film to use as a stimulus for creative writing.
- Visual storytelling to recreate the day in the life in a historical character (KS1).
- Creating collaborative non-fiction e-books.
- How to produce a modern re-creation of a silent movie with your class.
- Historic storytelling in English through e-puppetry (KS1).
- Creating a “vintage-themed” audio drama.
- Creating historical themed digital art.
This year we will be making use of the new 1950’s town involving art and multimedia.
As our missions require various levels of knowledge with the iPads, you will have the opportunity to select something appropriate to the age you teach and your familiarity with the apps and devices, there truly is something for everyone.
I know what you might be thinking - this sounds way too much fun to be a CPD course.
At Sunderland RTC and Knetic Education we believe the best learning takes place when you are working collaboratively and allowed to express your creativity. That is what Mission Beamish is all about. Everyone who comes will also be given access to the online resources they need to plan missions with your own learners.
Be prepared to come back buzzing with ideas that's the aim of the day!
Lunch and refreshments are provided, and Beamish are offering a voucher for a free class activity to all schools that attend.
