Scratch the Surface: Climate Data in Code
Downloaded: 26
Last edit: 20 March 2025
In this lesson, pupils will explore how climate scientists use data to understand changes in global temperature over time. They will learn the importance of collecting, analysing, and accurately presenting data to identify patterns and trends. Using Scratch, pupils will work with real climate data stored in a list, and write code to plot this data on a graph. Through this, they will develop their understanding of how computers can be used to process and visualise information. Pupils will also investigate how data can be misrepresented, examining the impact of scaling and selective data use on interpretation, and learn how to present data responsibly.
