Sources of recycled IT equipment

Many commercial organisations regularly turn over their stock of IT equpment: laptops, network kit, servers etc. Much of it works perfectly well, and it makes sense to recycle it into schools.
Here is a list of organisations that do this. Please add to the list!
- Computers 4 Charity: A UK-based charity that refurbishes donated computers and offers a 10% discount on refurbished devices exclusively for UK schools.
- Computers For Charities: Provides low-cost refurbished computer equipment to UK voluntary organizations, schools, and churches.
- Little Lives UK: Through their Technology Programme, they collect and refurbish electronic devices, including laptops, and donate them to schools and children's organizations in need.
- Tech For UK: This initiative connects donors with schools in need of IT equipment. I don’t think this particular site is still fully functional but their website has advice and a list of organisations who will help schools. They provide a map of schools (no longer functioning) and organisations accepting donations and can facilitate collections.
- Every Child Online: Collects, refurbishes, and donates laptops and PCs to schools, educational clubs, and social service departments to prevent digital isolation and improve digital education for children and young adults.
- Turing Trust Founded by the family of computing pioneer Alan Turing, this charity refurbishes donated IT equipment and provides it to schools in sub-Saharan Africa and the UK.
- The Restart Project While primarily focused on promoting repair and reuse, they offer a directory of community groups across the UK that collect and refurbish computers for local distribution
- Community Laptops Established in 2020, they redistribute electronic equipment from organisations and individuals to schools and families in need, addressing digital exclusion.
- Digital Poverty Alliance does a lot of things relating to digital poverty, but includes giving laptops to teachers. Among the trustees are our very own Niel Maclean and Beverley Clarke.
- Pure IT Refurbished: Supplies approved refurbished desktops, laptops, and monitors to charities, and offers dedicated account managers and warranties.
- ITVET's Laptops for Schools: Refurbishes laptops and provides them to schools and other organizations to tackle digital exclusion and create more inclusive environments.
- National Device Bank. The National Device Bank is powered by Good Things Foundation. It provides refurbished laptops, mobile phones and tablets to individuals who may not have access to a device.
- The Raspberry Pi Foundation runs a program distributing devices to Code Clubs in the UK, particularly focused on youth and community organisations (rather than schools).
