The Tuk Tuk challenge

This project was a combination of the DT and Computing lessons based around our term topic of India for a group of three classes of year 5/6 children (mostly year 5) in a state primary school. It came about when my generalist teacher colleague said, "If we make model Tuk Tuks for the DT next term could you then make them programmable?" The resource contains the rapidly put together IWB resource that we used with extra guidance notes written on the page by myself to help you. The DT work is excellent and challenging and the computing is rich in computational thinking with particular emphasis on: algorithmic design, lots of debugging , logic and prediction and decomposition. The children then went on from this to do some digital literacy by using all the video and pictures captured to create their own web sites detailing how to make a Tuk Tuk model using their G Suite accounts and Google Sites. I hope you enjoy having a go at a similar project and find this resource very useful. Email me if you get stuck or need extra help. The link below plays a Youtube video of the working models at the end of the project. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l25Vfz9GWIc
