The Teacher Inquiry in Computing education (TICE) project provides classroom teachers with the opportunity to work with experienced researchers and academics to carry out their own research. In this session, four members of last year's cohort will present their research which is explained below in their own words

Lorne Pearcey

'My research looked at writing programs away from the computer to see whether it helped with developing accuracy in coding. Students then worked with a partner to debug and correct the errors in each other's code.'

Justin Heath

'FLARE: Enhancing Code Comprehension and Formative Assessment in Block-Based Programming. This session introduces a structured framework that helps teachers scaffold programming concepts in block-based coding to support code comprehension and formative assessment. Learn practical strategies to deepen students’ understanding and engagement.'

Alex Price

'It's useful, but it's not interesting' - why do Key Stage 3 girls opt out of Computer Science GCSE? This project explores the factors influencing girls’ decision-making regarding Computer Science GCSE enrolment from their own perspectives in the context of a mixed non-selective state school.

Racael Coultart

'Develop your own debugging skills as well as explore ways of supporting learners to improve their code in Scratch.'
