Michael Jones will be showcasing materials and ideas which can be used to apply computer science to carbon capture. The end goals of the workshop are to know how to code a solution for calculating the carbon stored in trees. The journey will take you through the use of trigonometry to measure tall objects, collection of data, application of formula and consideration of moral responsibility as a scientist - computer focused or other. Michael will provide a scheme of work voted as a winner in the 2023 Climate Change Challenge at COP28. His work on sustainability and the use of technology resulted in the award of the Zayed Sustainability Prize at COP28. You might need a right-angled triangle and a calculator!
