CAS Yorkshire Online:Better CS T+L for students with Autism
Local Community
Online
Pete and I are currently doing the online NCCE course Computing for specialist teachers of autistic students led by one of our colleagues, Catherine Elliott. She will give an overview in the session. We are delighted that she has agreed to join us for our 3rd CAS Yorkshire Online of the school year to:
ask us to consider the barriers and opportunities for autistic young people in computing
cover the impact that autism can have on student’s learning and how to apply general pedagogy to teaching computing in a specialised setting
4:00pm: Welcome
4:05pm: Main topic: Better Computer Science Teaching and Learning for students with Autism led by Catherine Elliott
4:45pm: Leave if you like or stick around for general chat
5:00pm: End
Hosted by Chris Sharples and Pete Dring. To register a place, you'll need to be signed in here to see the red register button, which will give you the instructions to join online.
We'd love to get more people involved in hosting and leading CAS community events. Do get in touch if you have any ideas and suggestions.
We know that there's no perfect time that everyone can make but we really want to support small departments and individual computing teachers. We plan to alternate between 4pm and 8pm online slots on the third Thursday before a holiday each half term.
Here are some future dates for this year: we look forward to seeing you if you can make it:
Thu 16/03/2023 8pm
Thu 11/05/2023 4pm
Thu 06/07/2023 8pm
